Becoming a Mentor Reflection

Getting Maddi as my mentee was a blessing. She is such as strong, beautiful, smart, and motivated woman. From all of her activities she is involved in including Honors, LAS, and Pom, she truly understands time management.

One thing I was very nervous about when becoming a mentor was trying “too hard” to be the best mentor. I have come to understand that through mentorship, the main goal and purpose of it is to be a support system and a helping hand when it is needed the most. Just reaching out and saying “hi” or catching up with lunch is sometimes the best way to do it. Whether or not you are best friends with your mentee, overall, just being a listener and a friend is all you need to be.

Maddi is very easy going and such a kind-hearted person. With everything she has done, I am so very proud of all she has accomplished her freshman year at Central Michigan University. I know that as she receives her mentee, she will be an amazing one. I can’t wait for her to shine and for us to add another amazing woman to our family.
